New York Times T Style Magazine Pre-Golden Globes party

Imagine yourself in a room packed to the rafters with genuine Hollywood idols and celebrity types. Imagine yourself only a star-struck breath away from legendary women like Shirley MacLaine and Joan Collins.

That’s exactly what happened to invited guests at The New York Times’ T Magazine party on Jan. 15, 2010. Thrown inside a cramped space in West Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont, the celebration unofficially set off a series of shindigs leading to Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards.

Hosted by Peggy Siegal, the T Magazine party was a veritable magnet to celestial beings, among them Scientology clerics Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. It likewise lured Quentin Tarantino, Jared Leto, Ashley Olsen, Ben Stiller, and Adam Lambert.

Legendary peahens Shirley MacLaine and Joan Collins were among the party’s early birds. They were spotted conversing early in the evening, before MacLaine moved on to chitchat with Julianne Moore.

Only days away from winning a Golden Globe for TV’s Big Love, Chloe Sevigny attended the get-together with filmmaker Liz Goldwyn. Another TV thespian in the crowd was Kim Raver, who stuck close to her Lipstick Jungle co-worker Lindsay Price. Academy Award nominee Carey Mulligan also came, but without boyfriend Shia LaBeouf in tow. She was seen close with The Office actor B.J. Novak.

Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford could also be sighted here, puffing a fag with an unidentified boy friend. At the outdoor smoking area, Eli Roth could be seen cozying up to an unknown blond.

Around 9 pm, the party almost hit overcapacity
. Yet guests were mostly eager to fill two less breathing spaces with the grand entrance of Cruise and Holmes. Before long, Holmes hit a conversation with Glee actress Dianna Agron, while Cruise cracked some jokes with Woody Harrelson. All the while, Holmes’ ex Chris Klein kept his distance.

TomKat exited the party after 10 pm, probably in a rush to get home to their daughter Suri. But directress Sofia Coppola chose to tag her 4-year-old daughter Romy along to the party.

Dina Lohan and her starlet daughters Lindsay and Ali burst in the doors fabulously late. However, everybody was preparing to vacate the penthouse just then.

Stars Celebrate Oscars at Parties for a Cause

partiesCelebrities were all about charity this year and most were found attending parties around the 82nd Academy Awards that celebrated the spirit of giving. The Night Before gala, hosted in Hollywood on the Saturday before the Oscars, was set to raise money for the Motion Picture & Television Fund. This organization provides individuals in the Southern California entertainment industry with health and human services needs.

The event was held at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Guests included Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise, Sandra Bullock, Jeff Bridges, Robert Downey Jr., and several other attendees.

On Sunday, Oscar night, the celebrities came around again for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. His organization works to fund educational programs regarding HIV/AIDS prevention as well as striving to eliminate discrimination against individuals with HIV/AIDs. The program also provides tangible services for those affected by the disease.

This event was held at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood where guests were entertained by Grace Jones. The party had many guests including Adam Levine, Chace Crawford, Heidi Klum, Jason Mraz, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Tim Allen, Victoria Beckham, and several others.

Tinsley Mortimer’s Post Oscar Interview

partiesWhile the Oscars brought about several surprises, it was the after event Oscar parties where things became incredibly strange.

Tinsley Mortimer, who will soon be starring in her own reality shore, High Society, was seen rubbing elbows with the cast of Jersey Shore. Despite that she’s one of the Park Avenue elite, she was ecstatic about meeting the personalities behind the successful MTV reality show. Mortimer said the cast is “so funny and so themselves”. She also said that she’d love to hang out with the gang on the Upper East Side.

She had previously run into “The Situation” and “Pauly D” while recording a voiceover for her show. It just so happened that the pair of Jersey boys were shooting The Rachael Ray Show in the same studio. More recently, she had the opportunity to work with “J-Woww”, “Snookie”, and “Sammi”.

Mortimer is a graduate of Columbia University and a Dior beauty ambassador. She’s hoping that her new reality show will show the imperfections in her life. She wants people to know that just because she grew up with a privileged lifestyle doesn’t mean that her life is easy.

There are also rumors that the future reality star is dating ex-American Idol contestant, Constantine Maroulis, however she’s not confirming anything.

Best of young Hollywood honored

Variety has announced its lineup for their Third Annual Variety’s Power of Youth event, dubbed in Los Angeles on Dec.5, 2009.

This year’s event, produced in conjunction with Variety’s annual Youth Impact Report, features an exclusive afternoon of festivities and live performances, according to this article on Access Hollywood.

The event will celebrate a select group of outstanding young entertainers, chosen to receive the Variety’s Power of Youth “@15 Award,” presented by Best Buy.

The guest list is comprised of 700 invite-only guests made up of the elites of under-25 actors, actresses, recording artists, and the children and families directly affected by Variety’s two 2009 beneficiaries – Starlight Children’s Foundation and LA’s BEST.

This year’s honorees include “High School Musical’s” Corbin Bleu (for his work on behalf of the Starlight Children’s Foundation), “iCarly’s” Miranda Cosgrove (St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital), Jesse McCartney (City of Hope), “90210’s” AnnaLynne McCord (The Blind Project) and “True Jackson, VP” star KeKe Palmer (The Boys and Girls Clubs of America).

Starlight is a national in-hospital and outpatient program dedicated to helping seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities. LA’s BEST, a nationally recognized after school education, enrichment and recreation program, serves more than 28,000 children with the greatest needs and fewest resources throughout the City of Los Angeles.

“Through the amazing support of the entertainment community and our generous sponsors, Variety’s Power of Youth has had the fortunate opportunity of generating more than one million dollars to benefit the several charities this effort has supported over the past three years. It has helped to create a bedrock of social awareness within the next generation of entertainment,” Brian Gott, Publisher of Variety said in a statement issued to Access Hollywood. “With the help of more than 200 young artists who are in a position to influence their peers and fans, we are able to raise real money to support real causes where there is a real need.

7th Annual Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party

Future movie megastars and pop icons bonded together for Teen Vogue’s 7th Annual Young Hollywood Party at the Milk Studios in Los Angeles.

No one in attendance at the Sept. 25 soiree was more successful than Nicole Kidman or Britney Spears. But the promise and vigor of youth was clearly on their side. On that evening, 400 precocious faces from film, TV, music and fashion congregated for a night of music and margaritas.

Supervised by Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Amy Astley, the starlet-studded crowd included a few superstar seeds or so. Demi Moore and Bruce Willis’ youngest daughter Tallulah Belle was there. So was Kelly Osbourne, who came with model-boyfriend Luke Worrall.

No Young Hollywood Party would be complete without Disney Channel celebrities. The bash was attended by High School Musical alumna Ashley Tisdale and Wizards of Waverly Place’s Selena Gomez. In the same way, Miranda Cosgrove held Nickelodeon’s banner high.

Leighton Meester and Blake Lively weren’t around but their 90210 counterparts AnnaLynne McCord, Jessica Stroup and Jessica Lowndes came in full force. “Leavin’” singer Jesse McCartney also attended.

Like last year, the 7th Young Hollywood Party vaunted a Twilight actor. Fresh from shooting Eclipse in Canada, Taylor Lautner became one of the party’s strongest chick magnets, attracting the likes of Kiki Palmer and Lily Collins. Even the party’s pretty models were glued to the onscreen werewolf.

Those models were more or less part of the D&G entourage, which sparked off the party with a fashion show. After their show, the Noisettes invaded the stage and put such names as Aly Michalka, Andrea Bowen, Asher Brook, Ashley Benson, Bobby Campo, Brittany Curran, Camille Winbush, Sterling Knight, Taylor Spreitler, Teresa Palmer, Tyler James Williams, Vanessa Lengies, Victoria Justice, Willa Holland, and Zoe Myers on the dancefloor.

Some of the big names present were Ron Howard, Jack Nicholson, Lauren Bacall, Kirk Douglas and Warren Beatty.

The event was closed to most media, and only a handful of reporters were present.

Latin Grammy’s heat up

Last night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Latino and Latina stars came out for the 10th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards.

The biggest night in Latin music was marked by performers, distinguished winners and impressive special effects.

2009 Grammy Awards after parties

Divas, rappers, rockers, and most other musicians kept the night alive long after the 51st Grammy Awards winded down last Feb.8, 2009. Music makers, invited to the Awards or not, hopped around the vast party circuit in Los Angeles after Sunday’s ceremony.

Of the numerous after-parties, the official shindig was the one that transpired at the L.A. Convention Center, where Robin Thicke sang her soulful ditties. Patterned after Woodstock, the affair had celebrated Chef Wolfgang Puck in charge of the gastronomic feast, while hippies and fire-breathing dancers entertained guests.

But a different after party was taking place at Wolfgang Puck’s own restaurant in Beverly Hills. House of Hype/Island Def Jam and L.A. Reid invited Lionel Richie, Kanye West, Ryan Phillippe, Jesse McCartney, Young Jeezy, Benji Madden, and newfound Grammy winners Duffy and Estelle, over to the famous steakhouse.

Partygoers ran around in circles into the wee hours of February 9. Perennial partygoer Paris Hilton dropped by the Stand Up for a Cure affair hosted by EMI at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. Joining her were the likes of Josh Madden, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Keith Urban, JC Chasez, Hilary Duff, Chris Tucker, and Kate Bosworth. Urban’s wife Nicole Kidman was also there.

Sony BMG had its own revelry at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Jennifer Aniston, John Mayer, Carrie Underwood, Clive Davis, Adele, Anthony Hamilton, T-Pain, and Sara Bareilles mingled with each other at the said party. As for the Universal Motown Records Group, Katharine McPhee, Lil Jon, Akon, and Colbie Caillat showed up at their affair at Whiskey Blue.

Grammy parties were not reserved for the record labels though. Ne-Yo organized his own affair at Social Hollywood, while Radiohead threw theirs at a mansion in Hollywood Hills. Maroon 5 attended the latter.

Neither could compare, however, with the star-studded function by Kings of Leon at the watering hole Teddy’s. Justin Timberlake and Ryan Reynolds, with their respective flames Jessica Biel and Scarlett Johansson, lent their presence to the party. Katy Perry arrived late while Slash chitchatted with Timberlake.

Olsen Twins’ 21st birthday

Former child stars Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen came of age on June 13, 2008. Now 21, the twins were at last legally entitled to drink the booze that overflowed on their birthday party, held June 15 at their mansion in Beverly Hills.

It was full house for the soiree, with former workmates from their defunct sitcom Full House joining over 100 guests. Earlier, the twins hired security to keep tabs on paparazzi and gatecrashers, the street outside closed for good measure.

Friday’s celebration was exclusive to the likes of Kirsten Dunst, Olivier Martinez, Joaquin Phoenix as well as family and non-showbiz peers. Later in the evening, invitees lined up to give testimonials to the celebrants.

Near midnight, before the crowd, Ashley praised her twin sister, saying “No one could understand me the way you do. In fact, no one could even tolerate me the way you do!”

M-K and Ashley had a more sedate rite of passage on their actual birthday. They threw a dinner party at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood for friends and family, including their older brother Trent and younger sister Lizzie.

By 12 AM, the newly minted women had blown the candles on a duo of luxurious red velvet cakes. Not settling for these, the celebrators ordered decadent cupcakes, champagne, and wine to be passed around.

Like the June 15 celebration, the dinner involved guests paying tribute to the girls. The twins took Polaroid pictures of themselves throughout the night, while birthday presents and cards made their way to them.

Evidently, the dual celebrations marked a reprieve from their duties running the business empire known as Dualstar Entertainment Group, where Ashley is CEO. They had been running the company since January 2005, but the company itself has been around since they were six.

Dualstar initially sold Olsen-related merchandise to tweens; now it covers a grownup fashion range called the Row. Because of this, the Olsen twins, at age 10, became the youngest self-made millionaires in US history.
